God Is At Work In Our Spring Class

We’re reversing babel & having a blast.

¡Bendiciones! ¡Dios esta trabajando en nuestra clase de la primavera! We’re two class sessions into our Spring 2021 Spanish Class and it has been a joy to experience men, women, and children of all skill levels coming together to learn Spanish. The class has been a blast! We’re learning, laughing, and loving one another as we’re being equipped to have more confident conversations with our Santa Ana neighbors. Our Spanish-speaking church members have worked hard to come prepared and teach us well (and maybe shake off the dust themselves), our Spanish-learners have confidently stepped into the unfamiliar, and we’ve all together united around the pursuit of a common language.

Babel: A common language divided by sin.

The gospel: uncommon languages united by the savior.

More than that, the class doesn’t just demonstrate that we’ve united around the pursuit of a common language, but that we’ve been united for the praise of a common Lord. We’re walking in the reality that, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female,” there is no English and Spanish-speaker, “for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:27-28). As we’ve been saying in the class, at Babel, there was a common language divided by sin, separating us from one another (Gen 11). Through the gospel, uncommon languages are united by the Savior who brings us back together (Acts 2).

If you’re not in the class, pray for us and ask your friends what they’re learning. If you are in the class, continue to let Sunday mornings and small group meetings serve as Spanish practice sessions. Would God be glorified through the remainder of our class as we grow in gospel love and unity and would he use the skills we learn to help us love our neighbors and lead them to the Lord who unites us all.

We're Moving Back Indoors Next Sunday

WE’LL BE MEETING IN THE EBELL BALLROOM ON APRIL 18

For the first time in nine months, Cross of Grace Santa Ana’s Sunday service will be moving to an indoor setting. Most importantly, take a moment in response to thank and praise our faithful God for preserving our church and our city through the tumult of this last year.

Practically, this will represent a shift. If you serve on a Sunday team, things will look different. Consider reaching out to your team leader and asking how you can help things go smoothly, but also wait to hear from them about the changes that will be taking place.

In terms of masks, we ask that you wear one while singing and while interacting with others, but feel free to remove them while sitting in your seat. For any and all other questions, please email office@crossofgracesa.org.

Three People Who Publicly Declared They Eternally Belong To Jesus

Baptism is a celebration. Friends and family and church family gather. It’s a celebration because God the Father, through the sacrifice of His Son, by the power of His Holy Spirit is saving men and women from sin. The lost are being found. Baptism is the evidence that this is true.

This last Sunday, we had the joy of witnessing the baptism of Peter Cunningham, Alia Erkelens, and Claire Erkelens. Check out the pictures and relive the celebration of new life in Christ.

Only A Risen Jesus Can Call Us To Live For Him

Following the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection the prior Sunday, Pastor Jeff preached from Acts 22:23-23:11 this past Sunday and furthered our understanding of what Jesus’ resurrection means for us. Namely, drawing from Paul’s claim in 23:7, that Jesus’ resurrection gives us confidence that we have not been called to live, suffer and persevere for the sake of a dead Savior. Rather, Jesus stood up from the grave and, like He did with Paul, stands with us as we live for him. To learn more about what it means to stand with a living Jesus who stands with you, listen to Sunday’s sermon.

Celebrate Jesus' Resurrection Life In Three People This Sunday

BAPTISM AFTER SERVICE (4/11) IN HOULTON FRONT YARD

Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward reality for those who have believed. It’s a public declaration that a person has been united to Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Further, it’s a visual picture of that union - as immersion in the water reflects burial of the old man and the act of being raised up from the water reflects the reality that the one being baptized has been raised with Christ through His resurrection life. Baptism is one of the most significant moments in the life of a Christian and one of the greatest celebrations of any local church. This Sunday, we get to celebrate three people publicly professing union with Christ by God’s grace through faith. Head straight over to the Houlton home right after church to take part in this celebration. Email office@crossofgracesa.org for information and directions.

Easter Sunday Photos - Snapshots of Joy

This past Sunday, we experienced the profound joy of celebrating a Risen Savior. We sang, fellowshipped, heard the preached Word and even took pictures to commemorate the moment. Thanks to Christian and Kara Davis for manning our photo booth this year. Take a look at some of the photos captured and contact office@crossofgracesa.org for access to photos not pictured.

Jesus Is Lord Of All

LISTEN TO THE BILINGUAL EASTER SUNDAY MESSAGE

The resurrection of Jesus is a historical reality that matters to all people. While it can often be seen as something relevant only for Christians, that fact that Jesus rose bodily from the grave proves that He is Lord - of both the living and the dead, without distinction. This means that whoever you are, He is Lord over you life - either to your glory or your condemnation. Listen to the message to hear more about what this means for you and how you should respond.
