Sermon in the Park

1 JOHN 5:1-5

On Sunday, we worshiped in the middle of French Park and offered our neighbors a window into what our life is like. So what should they see when they look in on us? Even more, what does a watching world so often see when they take a look at God's people? They might see boundaries, restrictions, and divine-duties that cannot possibly co-exist with joy. But 1 Jn 5:1-5 tells us that while God has given us commands, "his commandments are not burdensome" (5:3). Yes, there are fences, but they're set in place for our flourishing. Of course there are rules, but they've been laid down by a loving Father. Sure, it might seem weird to a watching world, but our faith has overcome the world.

Service in the Park

THIS SUNDAY AT 10AM

It’s time to take our joy in Jesus on the road! This Sunday, we’re bringing our service right into the heart of French Park (901 French St, Sant Ana). Worshiping in the midst of our neighbors and welcoming them into the goodness of Jesus. Complete with coffee, donuts, and pan dulce to share.

Here are a few things to note:

  • Children’s Ministry: We won’t be offering our regular children’s classes. Instead, kids will stay with their families during the service. To help them stay engaged, we’ll provide some simple activities to keep their hands busy while still allowing them to listen and participate.

  • What to Bring: We’ll provide a number of seats. But to make sure there’s enough to go around, we encourage you to bring your lawn chairs or blankets. We’ll have coffee and treats, but you’re welcome to bring some water and anything else you need to be comfortable outdoors.

  • Where to Park: Anywhere you can along French or Minter St. Additional parking can be found on Vance, Tenth, or the other surrounding streets.

We can’t wait to worship in the park! Mark your calendars, invite a friend, and join us for this special Sunday of celebrating Jesus in the center of our neighborhood.

The Law is God’s. The Law is Good.

EXODUS 20:1-2: INTRODUCTION TO THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

Exodus 19 made it clear the people of Israel were saved for life with God. But what does that life look like practically lived out? Enter Exodus 20:1-17. More than anything else, it looks like these 10 things. These 10 words. These 10 Commandments God gave to Israel to stand at the heart of their relationship with him. But, do they still matter in our relationship with God today? Listen to the sermon to learn more about the goodness of God’s Law and the way it guides the lives of God’s redeemed people.

Join us for a Journey of Generosity

MAY 15 & 16

Coming this May, we are hosting another Journey of Generosity (JOG) retreat. It's a Friday - Saturday retreat led by our own Daniel Lee that's all about the joy that comes through generous living. We'll watch video stories, engage in personal Bible study, have a time of quiet reflection before the Lord, and participate in authentic conversations with our friends. And at the end of it there won't be any financial ask of any kind!

Here are the details:

  • When: Friday, May 15 - Saturday, May 16

    • 5/15 - 7pm-9pm with coffee and refreshments.

    • 5/16 - 9am-3pm with coffee, refreshments, and lunch.

  • Where: the Lee home

Small Groups

THURSDAY & FRIDAY NIGHT

This week, 4 groups will meet throughout our city to share in the joy of Jesus and apply his gospel to each other’s lives. Outside of Sunday mornings, small groups are the most important moments in the life of our church. Why? Because as author Paul Tripp puts it, “We can’t become the Christians we are meant to be by being alone with God. This is not God’s intent. What we become, we become together.” So don’t miss this opportunity to receive God’s grace through each other.
