If you have been volunteering on any ministry team at Cross of Grace Santa Ana over the past year, we want you to know how deeply appreciated you are. The pastoral team is grateful for your joyful and sacrificial service. The members of the church whom you serve through your volunteer roles are built up by your selflessness. Volunteering within a church plant can be hard and oftentimes thankless work. We know that you don’t do it for the thanks, but for the honor and glory of the Lord (1 Cor. 10:31).
We’re looking forward to expressing our appreciation during our rescheduled appreciation dinner on Saturday, September 18.
The men of the church meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month for a night of discussion and fellowship. However, this month the Men’s Meeting has been canceled. Please consider joining us next month. We hope to see you there.

If you’ve been visiting for any length of time and would like to learn more about what we believe as a church and how those beliefs take shape in the life of the church, this class is for you. The aim is to help you discern whether or not this is the church family the Lord is calling you to. If we discover together that this isn’t the church for you, we want to help you find another church. If by the end of the class you believe this is where the Lord is leading you, then we’d love to take steps toward welcoming you as a member and assisting you to plug into the life of the church.
In a land and among a people full of chaos and disorder, 1 Samuel begins with the introduction of a woman who is empty and barren. On Sunday, Pastor Kyle introduced us to Hannah, the mother of Samuel - the judge and prophet that the book is named for - who is unable to realize her deepest desire of having a child. She is bitterly distressed and deeply saddened facing a situation that is beyond her ability to resolve. More than this, Hannah’s barrenness reflects the barren spiritual state of Israel, and the barren state of our own hearts as well. We too experience the barrenness of soul that comes from our deepest desires going unfulfilled, struggling with nagging sin that we cannot shake, or suffering afflictions we cannot remedy on our own. How do we deal with our barrenness? Like Hannah, we need to turn to the King in our need and pour ourselves out in prayer. She came to God in her emptiness and he fulfilled her desire for a son. But more than this, in addition to offering our prayers, we need to offer our lives in service to the King. Having come with nothing and received everything, Hannah responded by giving it all back to God. Her life was one of living sacrifice to God because she realized that we’re never more full of joy than when we’ve poured ourselves out for the glory of our good and gracious King.
As we embark on our sermon series in 1 Samuel, we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of the storyline of the people of Israel. If you’re unfamiliar with the story of Israel, need a bit of a refresher, or want to best prepare to hear God’s word preached from 1 Samuel, take a few minutes to read the article How Would You Summarize the Old Testament in 2,000 Words? by Justin Taylor and Thomas Schreiner. This quick and concise summary of the biblical storyline will remind, reframe, or relay to you for the first time, the story of the Old Testament. Take a few minutes to give it a read so that you can be equipped to get the most out of 1 Samuel.

Praise God as He continues to grow our church. We recently have had the joy of coming alongside Omar and Sandibel in welcoming baby Aliyah into this world. We are thankful for another healthy baby!
Please join us as we continue to pray for these first-time parents. Pray for God’s grace and guidance as they navigate life with a newborn and rejoice with them for this new life!
