We’re Singing a New Song This Sunday

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL BY SOVEREIGN GRACE MUSIC

This Sunday, we’re singing a song that celebrates God’s character. It’s Psalm 103 set to music. A hymn of praise to God that sings forth Israel’s most ancient confession of faith: “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”

Listen to the song, read the lyrics, and come ready to praise his name this Sunday.

VERSE 1

My God is slow to anger when I go astray
Bless the Lord, O my soul
For all of my betrayals, He will not repay
Bless the Lord, O my soul
Through mercy and compassion His great love is proved
He covers my transgressions like the snow
As far as east from west are all my sins removed
Bless the Lord, O my soul

VERSE 2
He saved me from the pit when I had lost all hope
Bless the Lord, O my soul
From endless springs of kindness all His blessings flow
Bless the Lord, O my soul
Our days will fade like flowers and are quickly spent
And like the wind our years will come and go
Everlasting favor is His covenant
Bless the Lord, O my soul

VERSE 3
Merciful and gracious is my God to me
Bless the Lord, O my soul
I will tell His goodness through eternity
Bless the Lord, O my soul
And bless the Lord, you angels, all you heav’nly hosts
And every living creature here below
Oh praise the Father, praise the Son, and Holy Ghost
Bless the Lord, O my soul

TAG
And bless the Lord, you angels, all you heav’nly hosts
And every living creature here below
Oh praise the Father, praise the Son, and Holy Ghost
Bless the Lord, O my soul

Covenant Glory Revealed

EXODUS 33:18-34:9

The story resumes and the mediator's prayer requests keep on coming. Having received God’s assurance he would go with the people, Moses asks for one more thing. And it’s the greatest thing he - or anyone else for that matter - could ever ask for. He says, "Please show me your glory." The one who spoke with God "as a man speaks to his friend," prays, "Lord, disclose even more of yourself to me!" The one who pled with God to maintain his presence among the people asks to experience that presence in a way he never has before. God says, "Yes," his glory passes by, and Moses catches a glimpse  while sheltered in the rock and covered from the full sight. But, a day would come when that glory would shine forth most fully in the face of Jesus Christ. A day that has dawned for us.

Partner with Bridge this Fall

PRAY. OUTREACH. SERVE.

The Bridge Course is back September 14th! We’re gearing up for 10 weeks of building community, wrestling with life’s big questions, and exploring the Christian faith with our Santa Ana neighbors.

3 WAYS TO PARTNER

  1. Pray - Pray for the course this fall. Asking God to go before us, bring guests around the table, and open their eyes to the glory of Christ. Ask God to burden your heart for someone you could bring, and then ask for the boldness to invite them!

  2. Outreach - Pray and then go! Make the invite, share the info on social media, and tell a friend, family member, or co-worker about the Bridge. In addition to this, make plans to go into our city on Saturday, September 12th to extend the invite to our neighbors in French Park and DTSA. We’ll meet at the Ebell at 9:45am and then spread out across our neighborhood. RSVP with Brian Marcus.

  3. Serve - Volunteer with the course. We are in need of female volunteers to facilitate table discussion and a few more meals. Sign-up to volunteer or book a meal.

Use this digital flyer to invite your friends. Find all the details for the Bridge Course here.

Praying Like Moses

THREE WAYS EXODUS 33 TEACHES US HOW TO PRAY

On Sunday, we witnessed God and Moses going back and forth. Coming to the negotiating table. Watching Moses play the role of mediator to maintain Israel’s covenant relationship with God. He did this by praying for them.

He wrestled with God like Jacob in Genesis 32. Striving in prayer. Persisting in his requests for the people. Refusing to let go until God’s blessing came to them. We are invited to do the same. Click the link below to learn how to pray like Moses.
