Don’t have the book? That’s okay! Reading is not required for participation. Just come eager and expectant to dive into the riches of God’s word.

Join us tonight at 7pm at the Houlton Home. We hope to see you there!

The Beauty of the Church as a Pillar and Buttress of the Truth

THE TRUTH IS HER REASON FOR EXISTING IN THE WORLD

On Sunday, guest preacher Abelardo Muñoz from, Iglesia Gracia Soberana of Juarez, Mexico preached from 1 Timothy 3:14-16. He helped us to behold the beauty of the church as a pillar and buttress of God’s very truth. As a pillar and buttress, the church upholds and holds firm the truth. What is the truth she’s been called to promote and protect? It’s none other than the gospel - the supremely beautiful truth of the salvation found in Jesus Christ. This great redemption is the grand story of all of Scripture, and it’s the good news that all believers are called to prize, promote, and protect.

New Website is Live

https://crossofgracesa.org/

We are excited to announce the launch of Cross of Grace Santa Ana’s new website! Our website is our digital front door, it’s the first experience most guests will have with our church. We’ve taken a big step forward with the redesign of our main website and the introduction of a new website designed for members called “The Hub” (hub.crossofgracesa.org). We are hopeful that these updates position us to better reach our neighbors and serve you.

Here are a few recommendations that will help you make the best use of these new sites:

  1. Use the main site (crossofgracesa.org) as a resource for your friends, family, and neighbors who may be interested in attending our church. It’s designed especially for them.

  2. If you’re a member or regular attender, bookmark https://hub.crossofgracesa.org. The Hub has all the info you need to continue to engage in our church life. There’s also a link to it from the main website.

  3. Our blog is still functioning but has been moved from the main site to The Hub. It will continue to be the best way to know what’s happening at our church.

  4. If you’re already subscribed to the blog, you’ll continue to receive it. There should be no disruption. In fact, if you’re receiving this in your inbox that means it’s working just fine.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the church office. It’s almost guaranteed we’ll have to make some tweaks along the way. Thanks for your patience as we do.

We’re doing all of this to better serve our neighbors by expanding our digital presence. May God use these efforts to bring more guests to our church to experience the joy of Jesus.

Houlton Sabbatical Update

RESTING FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHURCH

Pastor Kyle is halfway through his 6-week sabbatical and we wanted to provide you with an update on how it’s going. For those who are unaware of this or who could do with a reminder, from May 23-July 3, Pastor Kyle has been relieved of all church responsibilities. After 6 fast-paced years of church planting and bi-vocational ministry, the pastoral team has released him for this defined period of time for the purpose of rest with his family. Now, this is not rest from the mission of the church but rest for the mission of the church. To be renewed for the work of ministry and to seek the Lord for refined vision of where Christ is leading our church in the next 5-10 years.

And halfway through, we’re happy to report on what the Lord is doing in this time. Over the course of the past 3 weeks, Kyle has been:

  • Resting his body and soul and being refreshed by the Lord and his word.

  • Enjoying his time with his family and seeing to it they receive the attention that they need and deserve.

  • Reading theologically and delving into important topics of study in order to serve us.

  • Seeking the Lord in prayer for the sake of our church. After 5 years of existence as a church plant, Kyle is seeking the Lord for a refreshed sense of our mission as a church. Asking the Lord questions like, “Who are our neighbors?” “How are we called to reach them?” “In what ways could we be strategically and intentionally aiming to spread your joy in our city?” “What are ministry aims and initiatives that will be implemented in the next 5-10 years?” “Lord, where are you taking us? How are you building us? What does the next season of church life look like as we prayerfully aim to be the next 100 year church in Santa Ana?”

We’re glad to inform you that the Lord is meeting the Houltons for their good and his glory, and as he does so he’s working good for us as well. Please continue to pray that God would refresh them and grant Kyle renewed strength and vision for ministry. If you have questions about the principle of sabbath or about our practice of pastoral sabbaticals, contact Pastor Jeff.

We're Singing a New Song This Sunday

WORSHIP THE ONE WHO HAS THE WORDS OF LIFE

In his grace our God has spoken to us! He has revealed his truth through his Son and in the Scriptures and applied it to our hearts by his Spirit. As his people, we’ve been given his words which guide our lives as well as the word which gives us life - the gospel. This Sunday, we’ll sing a song which celebrates the beauty of these words, as we worship the One who breathed them out. Listen to Your Words Are Wonderful and read the lyrics below so that you’re ready to sing along.

VERSE 1
Your words are wonderful, unfolding like the dawn
A wellspring and the rock we rest upon
We trust Your promises that keep our hope alive
They steady us throughout life’s weary climb

CHORUS
Where else can we go? Where else can we go?
You have the words of life, the words of life

VERSE 2
Come write Your holy truth upon our longing hearts
And strengthen us to shine against the dark
Lord, guard us from the lies the enemy will speak
No guilt remains for those You have redeemed

CHORUS 2
Where else can we go? Where else can we go?
You have the words of life, the words of life
Make Your glory known, make Your glory known
Through all Your words of life, Your words of life

BRIDGE
Give us ears to hear and eyes to see
Help us in our doubt and unbelief
Give us ears to hear and eyes to see
Help us in our doubt and unbelief
Give us ears to hear and eyes to see
Help us in our doubt and unbelief

Small Groups This Friday

EVERY 1ST AND 3RD FRIDAY OF THE MONTH

Our small groups are a context where biblical discipleship happens within the church. In other words, they’re small expressions of the local church where Gospel ministry takes place. Each group meets in a home, splitting their time between singing, praying, and discussion. Some groups include young children in their meetings. All groups welcome guests. Outside of Sunday mornings, these are the most important moments in the life of our local church. Carve this time out in your calendar every other week to be refreshed in the Gospel and to serve your friends by helping to point their lives to Christ.
