What Do We Believe About Ourselves?

WE’RE SINNERS SAVED BY GRACE

If the Apostle Paul had a “daily affirmation,” it wouldn’t be, “I deserve to be loved,” “I am worthy,” or “I am enough.” It would be “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost” (1 Tim 1:15). His testimony in 1 Tim 1:12-17, shouts “I am unworthy” from start to finish. While this might seem harsh, offensive, discouraging, or downright unpleasant, it’s true. And not only is it true, but it’s good. Because the extent to which we recognize ourselves to be sinners is the extent to which we’ll rejoice in Christ our Savior.

Baptisms on May 18th

GET READY TO CELEBRATE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

On Sunday, May 18th, we have the privilege of witnessing men and women publicly identify with Jesus Christ as they profess their faith in his sacrificial death and victorious resurrection. They’ll do this through their baptism. That sacrament through which we confess with our mouths what we’ve believed in our hearts. Demonstrating outwardly what was true of us inwardly from the moment we believed. Signifying our union with Jesus in his dying and rising. Marking the end of our old life in sin and commemorating our entrance into a new life with Christ and his people - which carries on forever.

BAPTISM IMMEDIATELY AFTER SERVICE on 5/18 AT THE LEE HOME

If you’re interested in being baptized or have questions about baptism, please contact one of our pastors.

Easter 2025

WE REMEMBERED CHRIST’S SUFFERING

On Good Friday, we gathered for a special time of singing, reading Scripture, praying together, and reflecting upon why Good Friday is called “good.” We remembered Jesus Christ and all he endured for us and for our salvation.

WE REJOICED IN HIS VICTORY

Then on Easter Sunday, we celebrated that suffering was not the end of his story! We shared in the joy of the Risen Savior as we sang songs of hope, heard good news of new life proclaimed, fellowshipped together, and took photos to commemorate the moment. Thank you Kelsey Houlton and Taylor Schlieder for setting up our photo booth this year! Take a look at some of the photos captured, additional photos can be accessed through our shared photo album linked here. If you took photos from your own phone feel free to upload them unto the shared album!

What Kind of Jesus Have You Come To See?

THE DYING AND RISING JESUS IS WHO WE NEED TO SEE

Easter is the good news of the new life made possible through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But we must remember that he couldn’t be raised unless he was first crucified. Though it seems so obvious, we can’t miss this. Because everyone wants life. One way or another, we’re all seeking resurrection, but no one wants to die. Yet according to the Easter story, life is given through death. Jesus died so that we may live and he invites us to come and die to that which is not life in order that we may truly live.

Why Is Good Friday “Good?”

REFLECTING ON THE DEATH OF CHRIST

Today, we remember that Jesus was crucified.

In the most egregious miscarriage of human justice ever committed, the only truly innocent man was condemned. In the height of cosmic rebellion, man and the Evil One conspired together to most defiantly reject their Maker.

Yet we call it “good,” because in and through the greatest act of evil, God worked our eternal good. Because on that first Good Friday, “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Cor 15:3). And apart from what happened on that Friday, there’d be no good news for us to celebrate Easter Sunday. Because Jesus died a death without which we could never enter new life.

Dying for us, as our Substitute. He bore the penalty of our sin in our place and on our behalf. He satisfied the righteous demands of God’s law. His blood washed away the very sins that separated us from God.

As our Representative, his death for sin meant our death to sin. We died with him so that God could do away with our old selves and raise us up as new creations.

So we call today “good” because death secured the hope of life. Because our condemnation was taken and Christ’s righteousness was given. Because crucifixion brought an end to the old for resurrection to usher in the new. Because Friday’s suffering paved the way to Sunday’s glory.

Would our hearts rest in the goodness of Good Friday to the glory of our Savior.
