Our Second Annual Festival of Nations

CELEBRATING THE NATIONS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Our second annual Festival of Nations was the best party in Santa Ana in 2020. Even in the middle of a pandemic, we can gather together to celebrate the beauty of the unity in our diversity. Not to mention we had 3 tables full of delicious cuisines from around the globe!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR “BEST IN THE WORLD” WINNERS:

  • Best Entrée In The World: Peter Robles - Jackfruit Tacos

  • Best Dessert In The World & Overall Best in the World Winner: Christopher Erkelens - Rellenitos De Platano

Thank you to everyone that joined us, prepared delicious food and shared your culture with others!

We Need A Vision of God Reigning

WHILE THE WORLD RAGES, GOD REIGNS

In Acts 4, after encountering the first opposition to the New Testament Church as Peter and John are arrested, the members of that church set an example for us when the world similarly rages around us. What do they do? They pray.

“I AM IMMORTAL UNTIL GOD’S WORK FOR ME TO DO IS DONE”

They pray to the One whose plan and hand “had predestined to take place” (Acts 4:28). These first century Christians had a vision for God reigning over and above the raging of the world, so much so that He had ordained the raging and was doing His redemptive work through it. In the midst of a raging 2020, this is a sermon that your soul needs to hear.

Listen to this week’s sermon here.

Festival of Nations is THIS SUNDAY

GET READY FOR THE BEST LITTLE GLOBAL PARTY IN SANTA ANA

On the evening of Sunday, September 20th, we’ll be hosting our second annual “Festival of Nations”. Coinciding with Fiestas Patrias and Dia De La Independencia, we want to celebrate what God has built in our church through the Gospel - the gathering of people from all different nationalities and heritages into one new family in Christ.

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE?

  1. Bring a dish (entree, dessert or side) representing your national heritage. Bring your best effort. Let Krista know what you’re bringing so we can ensure we have enough food. The results will be judged and the “Best In The World” award will be given to the individual whose dish impressed the most. Multiple dishes per family are ok!

  2. Please - take precautions when preparing or purchasing your dish. We want to be cautious in light of COVID-19.

  3. Join us at 5pm on Sunday, September 20th in the Schlieder backyard in the heart of Santa Ana. Masks will be required. We will have hand sanitizer readily available and food will be served by a gloved team.

  4. Bring a picnic blanket or chairs for your family!

Please RSVP and let us know you are coming to office@sovgracesantaana.org

The One Thing We Should Refuse To Give Up

YOU CAN ARREST ME, BUT YOU CAN’T ARREST MY GOSPEL

How should a Christian respond when he or she encounters opposition from those in government or authority? When their American rights are threatened? When our ability to gather is limited? When it looks like persecution could be down the road? In Acts 4:1-22, Peter and John provide us with a stalwart example which helps us to answer this questions; an example which leads us to the conclusion that because we have everything else firmly secured in Christ, the one thing we should never allow to be wrested from our hands - or mouths - is the message of Jesus Christ.

Coronavirus Guidelines Update - OC Moved To The Red Tier

MEETING IN THE COURTYARD FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, FOLLOWED BY A RETURN TO INDOOR GATHERINGS

This week Orange County was moved to the red tier in the state re-opening plan. What this means for us is that we’re now once again allowed to move back indoors so long as we remain under 100 people or at less than 25% building capacity.

However, the Ebell Club is currently remodeling their kitchen and storing their kitchen appliances in the ballroom, so we’ll wait until the remodel is complete before moving back inside. Until then, we have a forecast of pleasant weather for the next two Sundays and a beautiful courtyard to gather to worship the Lord in.

WE’RE CHECKING WITH THE COUNTY REGARDING CHILDCARE

One of the greatest challenges in our corporate worship times has been the absence of childcare, especially for infants and toddlers. We admire and respect every one of you caring for small children and recognize the challenge that it’s been to manage the heat, to be mindful of the needs of your kiddos, all the while seeking to engage with our corporate worship. With this new phase of reopening, we’re seeking how to best approach restarting childcare according to best practices. Continue to watch the blog for further information.

As we prepare to make the shift back indoors in a couple weeks, please take a minute to refresh yourself on our Health and Safety guidelines, which will still be in effect.

If you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message here.
