The Very Best We Have to Give

IN A CITY WITH SO MUCH NEED, WHAT DO WE HAVE TO GIVE?

In Acts 3, Peter and John encounter a 40+ year-old man who had been crippled from birth. He was asking those passing by for money. When the two Apostles saw him, they told him that they had no silver or gold to give, but instead had something so much better.

THE GOSPEL IS THE GREATEST TREASURE

What Peter and John had and so willingly gave is the same treasure that we have. While it’s our joy to be merciful to our neighbors with our material resources, the Gospel is in fact the very best we have to give. Listen to last week’s sermon to see the value of the Gospel and to learn how to give the Gospel.

The Heat Is On

DON’T SKIP CHURCH - WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED

It’s going to be a hot one. As in over 100 degrees. We will still be meeting outside in the Ebell Club Courtyard. We want you to be able to prepare as best as possible for this heat, so that you can still come and join us in person to fellowship with your brothers and sisters.

Here are a few things we will be doing to make the heat slightly more bearable:

  • Serving Iced Water bottles & otter pops

  • Setting up additional EZ-Ups and Fans in the courtyard

  • Ice chests full of ice and cold towels

As always, we will still be live-streaming our service if coming out in the heat would be overly difficult for you.

Let's Celebrate The Unity In Our Diversity

FESTIVAL OF NATIONS 2020 IS COMING!

On the evening of Sunday, September 20th, we’ll be hosting our second annual “Festival of Nations”. Coinciding with Fiestas Patrias and Dia De La Independencia, we want to celebrate what God has built in our church through the Gospel - the gathering of people from all different nationalities and heritages into one new family in Christ.

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE?

  1. Bring a dish (entree, dessert or side) from your national heritage. Bring your best effort. The results will be judged and the “Best In The World” award will be given to the individual whose dish impressed the most. Multiple dishes per family are ok!

  2. Please - take precautions when preparing or purchasing your dish. We want to be cautious in light of COVID-19.

  3. Join us at 5pm on Sunday, September 20th in the Schlieder backyard in the heart of Santa Ana. Masks will be required. We will have hand sanitizer readily available and food will be served by a gloved team.

  4. Bring a picnic blanket or chairs for your family!

Please RSVP and let us know you are coming to office@sovgracesantaana.org

Sign Up for Our 2020 Fall Class

CHURCH HISTORY - A CLASS TO TEACH US THAT THESE ARE NOT UNPRECEDENTED TIMES

Our 2020 Fall class starts on Monday September 14th. This year’s Fall Class centers on the history and timeless traits of the Church. The format will be 6 class sessions every other week (2nd and 4th Mondays of September, October and November) at 7:00pm via Zoom. Why Zoom? More than anything, because we want as many people possible in our church to be able to participate.

CHILDCARE WON’T BE A HINDRANCE TO PARTICIPATING. WE ENCOURAGE EVERY MEMBER TO REGISTER FOR THIS IMPORTANT CLASS

The usual attendance cap will not be in place. Men and women, English and Spanish speakers alike may join. This class will be a chance for each of us to become acquainted with the controversies of the past that reflect those of today, and how they were resolved; a chance to meet the men and women who stood as pillars of faith in Christ during adversity; a chance to see the depth and sturdiness of the foundation which has been laid under our local church.

REGISTER AND BUY THE BOOK TODAY

In preparation for the class we ask that you purchase a copy of Christian History Made Easy by Timothy Paul Jones. If you are unable to purchase the book due to financial constraints, please send us an email and we will be happy to help you.

Gospel-Shaped Rhythms

After Peter preached the sermon at Pentecost, 3,000 people were saved. These 3,000 people were the first converts of the New Testament church. Luke, the author of Acts, immediately transitions to answer the question, “what were the characteristics and priorities of this first New Testament Church?”. In Acts 2:42-47, we find the essential rhythms of this early church. And because these rhythms are formed and shaped by the timeless Gospel, they reflect the timeless rhythms of the church and stand as a model for the rhythms that should be reflected in the local church of today. Take a listen to the sermon to learn more.

Listen to this week’s sermon here.
