Pray for Jason

AS HE TRAVELS TO KENYA

This week, Pastor Jason is embarking on an exploratory trip to Nairobi, Kenya. For years, he and his wife, Kayleigh have carried a desire for global missions and they’re wondering if the Lord might be leading them here. To take the next step in the process of discernment, Jason will be visiting our recently planted sister church, Sovereign Grace Church Nairobi, from April 29 - May 8. He’ll be spending time with their pastoral team, learning all he can about the city, and getting a taste for what life in Nairobi is like.

This is a big step for our little church and the Roenicke family. So, as Jason goes, let’s send him with our prayers. Please join us in asking the Lord:

  • For safe and smooth travels on the 20 hour flights (each way!)

  • For Jason to be sensitive to the Spirit and have an open heart and hands as he takes it all in

  • For this trip to bring clarity about what the Lord has in store for the Roenickes

  • For strength, endurance, and peace for Kayleigh and the kids as they remain at home and make it through the day to day

We don’t yet know when or how things will work out, but we’re humbled by the opportunity our little church has to spread the immense and glorious joy of Jesus across the earth. Would he fill us with wisdom as we take this step together!

Sign-up to be Baptized

BAPTISM SUNDAY, MAY 31

Join us at the Lee home immediately after church on Sunday, 5/31 to celebrate the baptism of new believers and enjoy a hotdog lunch.

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is one of the sweetest moments in the life of the church. It’s a visible portrayal of the effects of the gospel in a person. A means of grace given to us in order to participate in God’s promise of new life in Christ.

All those who believe in Christ are called to publicly identify with him and profess their faith in his sacrificial death and victorious resurrection through baptism. This is the moment where we confess with our mouth what we've believed in our heart (Rom 10:9-10). Signify our union with Jesus Christ in his dying and rising. Mark the end of our old way of life. And demonstrate our entrance into a new way of life lived out together in a new people, as we’re added to his body - the Church.

Want to be baptized? Have questions about baptism? Talk to a member of the pastoral team. They’d be happy to tell you more about this sacrament and celebrate the saving work of God in your life.

Sermon in the Park

1 JOHN 5:1-5

On Sunday, we worshiped in the middle of French Park and offered our neighbors a window into what our life is like. So what should they see when they look in on us? Even more, what does a watching world so often see when they take a look at God's people? They might see boundaries, restrictions, and divine-duties that cannot possibly co-exist with joy. But 1 Jn 5:1-5 tells us that while God has given us commands, "his commandments are not burdensome" (5:3). Yes, there are fences, but they're set in place for our flourishing. Of course there are rules, but they've been laid down by a loving Father. Sure, it might seem weird to a watching world, but our faith has overcome the world.

Service in the Park

THIS SUNDAY AT 10AM

It’s time to take our joy in Jesus on the road! This Sunday, we’re bringing our service right into the heart of French Park (901 French St, Sant Ana). Worshiping in the midst of our neighbors and welcoming them into the goodness of Jesus. Complete with coffee, donuts, and pan dulce to share.

Here are a few things to note:

  • Children’s Ministry: We won’t be offering our regular children’s classes. Instead, kids will stay with their families during the service. To help them stay engaged, we’ll provide some simple activities to keep their hands busy while still allowing them to listen and participate.

  • What to Bring: We’ll provide a number of seats. But to make sure there’s enough to go around, we encourage you to bring your lawn chairs or blankets. We’ll have coffee and treats, but you’re welcome to bring some water and anything else you need to be comfortable outdoors.

  • Where to Park: Anywhere you can along French or Minter St. Additional parking can be found on Vance, Tenth, or the other surrounding streets.

We can’t wait to worship in the park! Mark your calendars, invite a friend, and join us for this special Sunday of celebrating Jesus in the center of our neighborhood.
