Jason is a CGSA Pastor

YOU RECEIVED HIM AS AN UNDER-SHEPHERD OF CHRIST

According to Scripture, the calling, assessment, ordination and installation of a pastor in a local church is no mere appointment to a job. It’s an expression of Christ’s shepherding care and leadership of his Church as we await his return. It’s something to be taken very seriously and something, when it takes place, worth celebrating to the glory of God.

This past Sunday, after a three year ordination process, Jason Roenicke made a solemn commitment to serve humbly, joyfully, and faithfully as your pastor. And you, as the members of Cross of Grace Santa Ana, received him as your pastor.

As we enter into this new season as a church, take a moment and thank God for Jason and Kayleigh Roenicke and pray for them as they adjust. More than anything, be hopefully expectant that God will continue to grow this church, spread the joy of Jesus, and save more Santa Anans as a result of moments like these.

How Should We Think About Our Pastors?

AS STEWARDS OF THE MYSTERIES OF GOD

This past Sunday, was a sweet celebration in which we received the gift of another pastor at Cross of Grace Santa Ana! But how should we consider him? What is the biblical valuation of what a pastor means to his people? 1 Corinthians 4:1 tells us that he is, above all else, “a servant of Christ,” and a steward of the very "mysteries of God,” given to us to lead us in enjoying, applying, and extending the gospel of Jesus Christ to one another and our neighbors.

Jason is Becoming a CGSA Pastor On Sunday

AFTER A LONG THREE-YEAR ORDINATION PROCESS

Jason Roenicke will finally be ordained as an elder/pastor/overseer (three terms that are used interchangeably in the New Testament which refer to the same office) of Cross of Grace Santa Ana!

YOU’LL PLAY A PART IN THIS FINAL STEP

Jason is not being made a pastor by an outside organization - he’s being received as a pastor by the church which walked alongside him in the ordination process. So, on Sunday, you, the congregation of Cross of Grace Church, will be asked a series of questions confirming your commitment to follow his leadership as an under-shepherd (1 Pet. 5:2-4) of the Chief Shepherd. Come ready not just to watch, but to participate.

A BIG MOMENT FOR THE ROENICKE FAMILY

Though Jason has walked through the specific steps of the ordination process, he’s done so with the unwavering support of his wife, Kayleigh. Sunday marks the end of a process and the beginning of a new journey together for both of them and we want to commission Jason, thank them both, and celebrate the wonderful grace of God at work in their lives. See you Sunday!

The Meaning of Marriage

THE MYSTERY NOW REVEALED

What is marriage? God established marriage in the beginning and called it good. And it has remained his good gift ever since - even as man fell, sin entered into the world, and the deepest meaning of marriage remained a mystery. But now, in the gospel of Jesus Christ, the true meaning of marriage has been revealed and we receive the example of marriage par excellence and are motivated and empowered to enjoy marriage to its fullest extent. Listen to this sermon to learn more about the glorious way in which husbands and wives are equal in value, different in role, and come together to reflect the most beautiful of pictures to a watching world.

Register for the Leadership Development Cohort

GROW AS A LEADER FOR THE GOOD OF OUR CHURCH

Identifying and equipping new leaders is always a high priority for the health of our church, fruitfulness in our life together, and the future of our gospel mission. For this reason, we’re eager to host our first-ever Leadership Development Cohort! Why should you sign-up? Because, in one way or another, we all have the experience of leading and being led. It’s our desire that God’s word would shape our expectations, expression, and reception of leadership wherever we encounter it in life - and especially within our church.

THE FIRST SESSION STARTS SOON

Who is it for?

  • Anybody aspiring to leadership.

  • Men with a sense of calling to the office of elder.

  • Men who may be positioned as small group leaders.

  • Men and women who may want to serve in the office of deacon.

  • Anybody who wants to know what the Bible says about growing into a Christ-honoring leader and become more effective in offering biblical counsel and encouraging the church.

How will it run?

  • We’ll read The Cross and Christian Ministry by D. A. Carson, learn how to articulate theological concepts and ideas, and become equipped to offer biblical counsel to one another. Each session will be a mixture of biblical teaching, group discussion, and evaluation of course assignments.

  • Once a month, we’ll meet on a Saturday from 7am-9am. Dates subject to vary to ensure max attendance.

  • Sessions will take place at the Cunningham home. Light snacks and coffee will be provided.

  • All participants will need to purchase their own copy of the Carson book. Scholarships are available upon request.
