The 6th Commandment
NO MURDER
At first glance, this seems like the easiest command to keep. More than halfway down the scenic route through the 10 words we could be saying, "Finally here's one I haven't broken!" But each one of these commands goes beneath the surface. Because, far before the 6th command is about what we do with our hands, it’s about what’s happening in our hearts. The bad fruit of murder, violence, neglect, and harm to another image-bearer grows out of the soil of sinful anger in our hearts. Jesus took this hatred head on as his body was beaten, bloodied, and torn up upon cross in order to tear down the wall of hostility that divides us.
