Renew is a meeting for our members & neighbors seeking freedom from addiction, destructive habits, and other long-standing struggles. It’s a weekly gathering designed to create community, provide accountability, and encourage one another to live as new creations in Christ.
WHAT WE’RE AFTER
Renewing our minds to think clearly
Romans 12:1-2 - “1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Renewing our hearts to love truly
1 John 2:15-17 - “15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
Renewing our strength to resist temptation & fight the fight of faith fervently
Isaiah 40:28-21- “28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. 30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Being renewed in our inner man & conformed to the image of the True Man - the Lord Jesus Christ
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 - “16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 - “18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
WHAT IT’LL LOOK LIKE
The initial rollout of Renew will begin with Chase Early leading a group of men through a 7 week study of the Book of Colossians this fall. We’re test-running things with the guys this fall and considering what the ministry could look like for men and women in 2027, and beyond.
The gatherings won’t be supports groups or 12-step meetings. Instead, they’ll be geared toward Christian discipleship and growth in godliness. But, with a focus on speaking into the struggles of:
Substance abuse
Gambling
Pornography / lust / sexual brokenness
Unhealthy relationships / co-dependency
Anger
Anxiety
Suffering / grief
And whatever other idols we’re prone to reach for
