Pray for the Senior Pastors Retreat

9/22 -9/24

Starting today, Pastor Jeff is gathering with the other Senior Pastors in our denomination’s West Region for a time of fellowship, encouragement, and prayer. We’re trusting that these days away would strengthen these men and strengthen their churches throughout the West.

Join us in praying for their time together. Here are a few things to cover:

  • Pray that the Lord would freshly affect them with the joy of their salvation

  • Pray that the weary would be comforted and refreshed

  • Pray that times of fellowship and ministry would be sweet

  • Pray that our partnership in the West would be enriched and our shared gospel mission galvanized to the glory of God, the joy of our churches, and the good of our neighbors all throughout California, Arizona, Colorado, and West Texas

THANK GOD FOR PASTORS

Beholding Glory, Becoming Glorious

EXODUS 34:29-35

As Moses came down the mountain to tell the people the covenant had been renewed, his face was radiating glory. The people saw his shining skin and they ran away in fear. They saw glory and it was scary. Why? Because even though God fixed the covenant they broke, there remains something broken in them. They need to be changed so they can gaze upon glory without fear. But this change won’t come through beholding the face of Moses. It only comes through beholding the face of Jesus. When sinners like them, and us, behold his glory in the gospel, we become glorious as he is.

Renew Recovery Ministry

STARTING: OCTOBER 14

This fall, we’re launching a meeting for our members & neighbors seeking freedom from addiction, destructive habits, and other long-standing struggles. It’s a weekly gathering designed to create community, provide accountability, and encourage one another to live as new creations in Christ. Here’s what we’ll be after each time the group comes together:

  • Renewing our minds to think clearly (Rom 12:1-2).

  • Renewing our hearts to love truly (1 Jn 2:15-17).

  • Renewing our strength to resist temptation and fight the fight of faith fervently (Is 40:28-31).

The initial rollout of Renew will begin with Chase Early leading a group of men through a 7 week study of the Book of Colossians this fall. Learn more & register here. Reach out to Chase with any questions.

Youth Ministry

THIS SUNDAY AT 6:30PM

We’re back at it with Youth Ministry this Sunday! This time around, the youth are wrestling with the question: “Isn’t Christianity against diversity?” This will get us thinking about what the Bible says about race, social issues, and cultural differences. Make sure to read Ch.2 in Ten Questions Every Teen Should Ask (and Answer) about Christianity to be prepared! See you at Hopper & Burr!

Bridge Has Begun

A CLASS BY OUR CHURCH FOR OUR NEIGHBORS

The Bridge Course started up last night! We kicked off our exploration of the Christian faith by asking the question, “Can we be good enough to get to heaven?” It was a rich time together as we shared a meal, watched a talk, and then discussed what it takes for us to get to God.

We’ve got 9 weeks of good food and honest conversations to go! Here are the questions we’ll be asking with our neighbors:

See a topic that interests you? A question your friends are wrestling with? Join us Monday nights at 7pm, use the digital flyer to extend an invite, and find all the course details here.

Covenant Renewed

EXODUS 34:10-28

Through the golden calf rebellion, Israel broke her covenant with God. Amazingly, in Exodus 34:10-28, God renews his relationship with them. We come to an ancient vow renewal ceremony and the promises and terms of the covenant are rehearsed and restated all over again. God repeats himself. He says what Israel already knows. And he does so because they are a people who need constant reminders of what is true. And we are, too. In our lives, it’s so easy to forget even the most important things. Not that the facts of the gospel just go flying out of our heads. But that the reality of who God is, who we are, and all he’s done for us fails to be felt, cherished, and central in our hearts. So we come to this scene in the Exodus story to remember what are lives are all about. Being reassured, above all else, “God is ours and we are his.”
